About the Me

Hi! Welcome to my little blog. I started blogging way back in 2002 with a Livejournal account, so it's kinda second nature to me now. I love to blabber on about nothing much in particular. I'm an English nerd (I teach English as an adjunct, after all), so I'll try to keep the grammar in check. But I make no promises.

I'm Alicia. That's uh-lee-see-uh, not uh-lee-shuh. I've gone through life as Alisha, and I'm kinda ready to pull my hair out over it. I'm half-Cuban, so my name is said the Spanish way. I'm also a southern gal, born in Florida, raised in Alabama, and now I live in Nashville, TN with my hubs and kiddo. I kinda like it that way though I'm itching for somewhere that has perpetual 75-degree weather.

I'm a huge geek. I have more than a little interest in Japanese anime (is that redundant?), Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter - you name it, and I'm probably all geekified up in it. I've attended anime conventions, people; that's how big I can get with this. I also love to play video games and read, but I don't do much of either ever since I have a kid.

Oh, so I married the love of my life on January the first, 2009.

My man is something kind of awesome. He keeps me laughing and keeps me on my feet when I think things start to get tough. Plus, he makes faces like this:

How can you not love a face like that, huh?

I gave birth to the second love of my life, baby Grayson, on June 4, 2010. He was born exactly two weeks early because I came down sick with pre-eclampsia and spent the next two weeks with severe high blood pressure. I had to go through induced labor while laying in a bed unable to even sit up, with my blood pressure being taken every 15 minutes. Not fun! Luckily, G was perfectly fine and was able to go home after a brief stint of jaundice.

We have a second baby that we discovered passed away at 14 weeks and 5 days on February 15th, 2012. Now, we are pregnant with our third due January 24th, 2013!

Welcome to the blog!

    1. Once they're toddlers and can start playing by themselves more, the free time will come back. :)
