Why "MCM"?

I've kept a journal since I was a little kid, scribbling away at the injustice of having a younger brother or such-n-such. I got my first actual blog in 2002 on Livejournal and wrote over 1200 entries in a span of 6 years. After some drama (essentially, friend-turned-into-a-jerk drama), I decided I needed a change. I've been floating around the Internet ever since.

I started a baby blog when G was about 2-3 months old, mainly just as a way to commit details of this new life to memory and share pics of G with family members. The name of the blog was more G-centric, but since then I've decided that I needed something more overall family related.

One of G's favorite books is My Many Colored Days by Dr. Seuss:

Some days are yellow,
some are blue.
On different days,
we're different too.
You'd be surprised how many ways
we change on different colored days.

I really adore this book. Not only will G let me read it to him over and over, the book shows how we all have ups and downs in life, but "I go back to being me." We might sometimes be sad, mad, or just plain feel like dragging our feet, but we're still who we are at the end of the day.

I also feel that the experience of life is measured more by the moments we have than the number of days - or years - we live. I often get months mixed up with each other, and can't remember when things happened, but I can remember the actual events themselves and how I felt during them. I hope when G looks back on his life, he'll remember all the fantastic times we had, all of the things we did, and all of the laughter we shared.
